TLDR: VIM3 is getting official Armbian support, Google AOSP and Fuchsia OS, and has received TELC (Japan) and ROHS certifications.
We know that it’s been a while since our last update, and the news has mostly been about the Tone2 Pro. In this newsletter we’re going to have a change of scenery by shifting focus to our VIM3 single board computer!
Official Armbian Support for VIM3 (and more)
We’re working with Armbian to provide full driver and OS support for all VIM devices. Armbian is a popular Debian based computer operating system for ARM development boards, and an image for your VIM3 is in the works. We hope to have it ready in 2-3 months.

Google AOSP Project
If you didn’t know earlier, your VIM3 is actually a reference board for the Google AOSP (Android Open Source Project), and we’ve released a beta version of Android 11 for VIM3. Android 12 is also in the works and will be released soon.

Google Fuchsia OS on VIM3
Google has officially built an image specifically meant to run on our Khadas VIM3! Check out our how-to build and run guide by Frank below. Please note that this is only meant for early adopters, as there is no GUI and you can only access the terminal via UART.

On a side note, the VIM3 may soon be getting official support from Home Assistant OS as well, and we want to thank the open source community for their efforts!
If you have feedback regarding the VIM3 and/or would like to see more open source projects ported to Khadas devices, please air your suggestions over at Khadas Forum.
